Yellow Fever: The Distinction of Addiction

In this next interview segment with Jamie Paquin, we discuss the key distinction between mere passion and the all consuming addiction for Asian women so vividly chronicled in Black Passenger, Yellow Cabs.

Looking at issues of control, the critical difference to the experiences laid out in the book is that addiction removes the individual of all control towards the object of our passions. The status of ‘junkie’ applies only to addiction, not passion, and is one of the main drivers behind the rampant sex – the yellow addiction – that Black Passenger, Yellow Cabs describes.
